We’ve all seen her. That woman that seems to literally glow from the inside out. She looks as if she’s made of gold.
You inch closer to her to see if she’s sweating. She’s not.
She looks effortlessly beautiful. Perfectly moist.
Having naturally glowing skin isn’t exclusive to certain women. Anyone can have naturally glowing skin. Naturally glowing skin is healthy, happy skin.
Admittedly, I am a bit of a skincare fanatic. About a year ago, I decided to ditch the heavy, artificial lotions in favor of a more sustainable, natural approach.
Let me tell you, sis, these days. I glow different.
I can testify that these are the secrets to naturally glowing skin.
Skin glows when it is hydrated from the inside out. Topical solutions may give you a temporary outer glow, but hydration is what gives you that glow from the inside out.
Experts at The Mayo Clinic recommend drinking eight, 8-ounce glasses of water a day. You can also drink celery juice, another nutritious option, and consume fruits such as watermelon, pineapple, oranges and peaches, which contain more than 80% water.
Natural, Moisturizing Oils
Replacing heavy lotions with lightweight, natural, non-comedogenic oils is an absolute game changer. I’m talking about oils like coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, apricot oil, and sweet almond oil.
Natural oils like these can be found at your local grocery store, and in natural grocers such as Sprouts and Whole Foods.
These oils contain natural fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin A, and so many other vitamins and nutrients. They are truly “food” for your skin, and are safe to use on nearly all skin types. If you have any skin sensitivities, test your skin’s reaction to the oil by rubbing it on a small patch of skin to start.
To apply these oils to your body, allow them to warm up for a few seconds in your hand and then rub them into your skin. You can apply them generously as your skin will absorb them happily.
It’s a great idea to apply your moisturizing oil daily. It’s my favorite thing to do after I shower!
Joy makes you glow. It really, does. Joy looks gorgeous on everyone, and is an essential part of achieving that “from the inside out” glow.
Happiness can be fleeting. But, joy is steady. Joy comes from knowing, loving and trusting God. It comes from knowing that he’s ALWAYS good, ALWAYS faithful, and that he’s walking through life with you.
