Spending time with God daily is the “X factor” in a woman of God’s life.
It’s what keeps us grounded. What fills us with love and grace for the day. And, what reminds us why we’re here.
When we think of spending time with God, we often think of praying and reading the Bible. Both of these are incredible ways to get to know our Lord and are essential to the daily walk of faith.
But, did you know these aren’t the only ways to spend time with God?
Our relationship with God is that – a relationship. And and intimate, personal one at that. Just like any relationship, we can sometimes get into a rut and need to spice it up occasionally to refresh and reconnect.
Here are three fun ideas for spending time with God in a fresh, spicy way.
Dance With Him
Imagine dancing with someone and not having to worry about whether or not they’re judging your moves. Imagine allowing yourself to be free and move your body in a way that expresses how you’re feeling.
That’s what dancing with God feels like. It’s the absolute best!
Dancing before God is an expression of joy and love. As a dancer, it’s one of my favorite ways to enter into the Lord’s presence.
To try this out, select one of your favorite worship songs and find a quiet, private space.
Then, turn the music up, close your eyes and move!
Don’t worry about what your body looks like. Just move and allow the lyrics of the song to speak to you.
Fun Fact: Did you know King David danced before the Lord, worshipping him with his whole heart? That’s right. David, one of the greatest Kings in the Bible who was called a man after God’s own heart. So cool, right?
Try A New Worship Music Genre
Listening to worship music is a great way to connect with God and enter into his presence. When your heart is postured to worship him, beautiful things can happen and you set an atmosphere that’s pleasing to our Lord.
In today’s day and age, there are so many types of worship music out there! From folk music, to contemporary Christian music, to gospel music, to Christian rap, you can find all kinds of music in many different languages praising the Lord.
I’ve found that listening to a different kind of worship music than I normally do shakes up my worship sessions in a major way. When I try something new, I focus on the words and the moment becomes less about whether or not I “like” the song, and more about resonating with the words, regardless of how fast or slow they come in.
The next time you’re feeling inclined to use your regular worship playlist, try switching it up and exploring a new Christian genre. Get ready for a new, fresh encounter with God!
Enjoy The Great Outdoors With Him
Did you know that the beauty of the outdoors boasts of God’s glory? God’s creation is absolutely gorgeous and getting out into it helps you see him as the magnificent painter, sovereign creator, and masterful artist that he is.
The next time you want to spice up your time with God, try taking a walk around your neighborhood or in a park. Or, go for a hike and enjoy the fresh air. While you’re there soak in the beauty and praise God for his marvellous works.
Cheers to incredible fresh encounters with God and refreshment in his presence! After you try out one of these tips, comment below and tell us about it. We’d love to hear about your journey!
